Winner 39. Walo Prize

On May 12 the Swiss Show Scene met in the MythenForum Schwyz, for the awards of the 39th Walo Award.  The winning of the Swiss Show-Oscar “Prix Walo” in the area of rock/pop was a high point in early 2013 for Gotthard.  With great pleasure, Nic Maeder and Marc Lynn were there to represent the band and to receive the Golden Star.  “This award is a great delight for us.  It both confirms and motivates us to take the same road again.”  After 1997, 1998, 2000 and 2002, this is the fifth “Prix Walo” in the history of the band and the first since the new beginning with the new band member Nic Maeder.

In retrospect: Tour start in South America one year ago

 Exactly a year ago, in May 2012, Gotthard began their successful “Firebirth” world tour in South America.  It was also the first concert with the new singer, Nic Maeder; he dealt with the baptism of fire masterfully.  This special beginning was captured on camera by Nasson, a great Gotthard fan.  The version of “Remember it’s Me” shows tour impressions from Chile with a passionate public, who celebrated the Swiss rockers enthusiastically!

Looking forward: Album Production

Currently, song writing for the new album is going at full speed. In the summer, production will begin for the successor to Firebirth, which is planned for 2014.But the band can’t tolerate not appearing on stage in 2013. They will be rocking this year in several exclusive concerts at home and abroad.

The new chapter of Gotthard has begun, the sequel will follow

2012 – The year was great! Gotthard passed the test with the new front man Nic Maeder in magnificent fashion! The Swiss Rockers stormed the hit parade with their album “Firebirth” and toured the world from South America, Asia and Europe. The result of their extraordinary musical power was that their 14th number 1 album went platinum!

2013 – Full speed ahead: Since they returned from the 70,000 Tons Metal cruise in the Caribbean at the end of January 2013, Gotthard has withdrawn to enable them to write songs for the successor to “Firebirth”; this is planned for 2014.

But Gotthard can’t be completely without the stage in 2013 and, so that the fans don’t have to wait so long, there will be two exclusive open-air concerts in Switzerland. On Saturday 3rd. August 2013, at the Summer Sound Swiss Festival in Sursee, there will be the only performance by Gotthard this year in the German-speaking part of Switzerland at the Swiss Night, where among others, bands such as Patent Ochsner, Bligg and Stress will perform.

One week later they will be in their home canton Ticino, appearing at the first Music and Biker Festival in Bellinzona.  On the old military base, Tessin is organising a special Happening for “their” band.  Hot Rock Music combined with the fascinating world of the Bikers.  The perfect match!  The former military base in Bellinzona, with its breathtaking surroundings, will be the stage for a spectacular event:

“Rock’n’Road” – on Saturday 10th. August 2013, the “Ex campo militare” will be the backdrop for thousands of bikers, motorbike fans and music lovers from all over Europe.  The visitors will be offered something special:  A fantastic Bike Show with Bike Award Ceremony, Bike Parade, American Car Show and lots of Live Music.  There will also be an international “Battle of Band” Contest.  The winning bands will play before Gotthard in front of an audience of thousands and to cap the event off, Gotthard will rock on the stage.  This is the only concert Gotthard will play in Ticino in 2013.
